Lotus Pond, a community-supported non-profit organization, began in 1954 with a group of volunteers dedicated to providing mental health services in Pleasantville, particularly for children. Since incorporation in 1955 when it served 175 persons, Lotus Pond has grown to become a comprehensive mental health agency that served over 10,009 individuals in 2000. In March 1997, the agency opened a new facility which unified formerly scattered programs and staff to serve the community more effectively and efficiently.
